We all have something that we could never leave at home when the open road beckons, what's yours?
I'm never sure whether the mammoth travels with me or I travel with him but neither of us seems to want to travel without each other, we do however always take one piece of kit with us wherever we go..... a corkscrew/bottle opener, well I do live with a mammoth!
Reply to this I always take a computer. With the high availability of public wifi (at least in developed areas) it's been an incredible resource for last-minute planning, and helped my road trips becomes much more spontaneous. That said, with increasing electronics searches at borders, having one used just for travel may be a very good idea.

Of course a passport for international travel. (Swiss Army Knife has to be in the check in bag or it will be confiscated.) Wet-wipes are handy for cleaning hands off prior to touching food, especially important with the Wuhan Virus problems.
I do take a line for hanging clothes and a jar or two of my favorite peanut butter when overseas for awhile.
Okeydokey.
Reply to this Comfortable walking shoes, passport, foreign exchange money, tooth brush, face cream spf, a pocket size camera or a DSLR for professional photos, and my cross body bag to put most of these things in. We travel minimal so the rest of our backpacks are stuffed with rolled up tshirts and pants. Also love ziplock bags to put liquid containers in, a few spills made us learn lol
Reply to this Apart from the obvious stuff like phone, headphones, book etc, I find I can;t get on a flight without a nice comfy pair of socks these days, christ, I'm getting old!
