In today's digital age, Instagram has become one of the most influential social media platforms for individuals and businesses alike. With over a billion active users, it offers a vast audience and numerous opportunities for engagement and growth. One of the key metrics of success on Instagram is the number of followers one has. Why Followers Matter on Instagram Having a large number of followers on Instagram is more than just a vanity metric. It's a sign of credibility and social proof. Lovefood lists these places in our fifty states as unforgettable places to eat. I agree! Here are a few we have visited over the years. What better place to dine in the Grand Canyon State than in the midst of the red rocks themselves? This fabled restaurant is tucked into the El Tovar Hotel, which has pride of place in Grand Canyon Village, and offers dramatic vistas of the surrounding landscapes from its large windows. On the menu are failsafe options such as steak, plus more unusual choices like oven-roasted duck with wild rice and a honey-bourbon chili glaze. The burger here is the BEST we have ever had!! It's not hard to guess the specialty of this celebrated mom-and-pop joint on Maui's North Shore. Mama's Fish House is one of the best-loved ... read more

Well, it's that time again, time for our annual vacation. This year we are going to Alaska and Vancouver, Canada. We fly out of Greenville, SC on Friday, May 10th, and stop at O'Hare International, on our way to Fairbanks, Alaska. We'll spend a few days there, then take the Alaska Railroad to Anchorage, spend a day or two there, then take the train to Seward on the 16th. There, we just spend a night, then board our cruise ship, Celebrity Summit, for our cruise along the Alaskan coast to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to spend a few days there before returning home. What makes this vacation special, is that we will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary (yes 50th!), May the 19th, onboard. So, I'll catch you next, on our way to Alaska.... read more

We love the Kentucky Derby. In years past, we always had a big Derby party at our home. We did all the Derby activities, including champagne, mint juleps, betting, and the highlight, a hat contest. Having been to the Derby, the excitement of race day, and the "most exciting two minutes" in sports has become a tradition with us. Though our current home is too small for a party, we still regard the first Saturday in May as a special day. What makes it special? Some Derby history from Sportsletter: Before airplanes and space travel, radio and television, the Great Depression, and two world wars, there lived a horse race in Louisville that's stood the test of time. Baseball may be the Derby's only elder sport in America’s young history, but I would argue the Derby ... read more

The excitement is building for our departure next Saturday for our trip to Alaska. Since Ray and I just arrived back in New Hampshire last week it has been a busy week of packing, and the Spring clean up of the yard. We have completed all of the reservations at the campgrounds we enjoy that tend to fill up quickly, and have reserved a car rental for our Yellowstone visit. The boys, however, have been on a cruise (of course) and will be arriving back in Naples tomorrow. Being that packing is so grueling they will probably hire someone to pack for them. We will be meeting up with them at the airport in Minneapolis where we are booked for the 4:30 bus to Forest City, Iowa, then the fun will begin!... read more

You may have guessed that I use the airline lounges whenever possible. Often times, when I have used miles to upgrade to Business Class, a visit to the airline lounge is included. Short of that, I have a Priority Pass, which is part of the Chase Sapphire Visa card program. In moments of true desperation, with lots of time to kill at the airport, I have purchased a lounge pass. Usually, the foreign airlines have better lounges. I would place Singapore, Air New Zealand, and Turkish Air at the top of the lounges I have visited. But lately, some of the US airlines have improved immensely, namely the Admirals Lounges of American Airlines, and United Polaris Lounges. Why? For one, they pour complimentary champagne!! And the food is upgraded. One of my first and best lounge ... read more

FROM THERE TO HERE, FROM HERE TO THERE, FUNNY THINGS HAPPEN EVERYWHERE!…(Dr.Seuss). And it's been such a fun season here at our winter residence, Tropical Palms. We hope you have enjoyed these good times with us. As I always say “The More the Merrier.” Another quote: “Time Flies when You are having Fun!” Boy, that's right on! We arrived here in mid-September and now it's time to start planning our journey “home”. Where did the time go? It seems like just the other day when we were settling in and enjoying the arrival and company of all our friends. Now, many of our friends have left and we are dealing with the preparation for our soon departure. This year is going to be so different from our past years. I'm still trying to comprehend it all…. ... read more

Hi Everyone, Traveling home. Between the train station, the airport and the train station in the airport, I cannot begin to tell you how many times I uttered the words “do you speak English?”. Thankfully most people were willing to help if they could. There were a couple times that several of us tourists were huddled around asking each other, trying to figure out which way to go. In the train station, beside the train, we were having one of those conversations and an English speaking passenger heard us, got off his train and told us that yes, that is the train to the airport and then he got back on his train. Very friendly people here. The airport goes on forever and has so many corridors to walk down or walk past. I did go ... read more
