Today we leave Ireland and our EF Go Ahead tour group! We met some people we dearly loved spending time with plus we loved our tour guide and bus driver. We hated to part ways but another adventure with a new group was waiting for us in Switzerland. In order to get to the airport at Dublin, we had to take a bus from Galway which drove clear across the country. Now Ireland is not that big, but Galway is on one coast and Dublin is on the other.it was about a 3 hour ride. Our flight was at 12 noon, so we left Galway at 6:30 am. It wasn't a bad ride, it was a local bus with several stops. We made it in plenty of time. The airport wasn't busy, but they did things ... read more

Today was a moving day to Galway, so bags out at 7:30, then breakfast, then on and gone by 8:30. On the way to Galway we stopped for a comfort stop (restrooms, snacks, and drinks). The place we stopped was just in front of Bunratty Castle. It’s a place Marsha, Shealyn, and I visited on our trip to Ireland! What a coincidence! We also drove by a golf course. Now I’m not a golfer but this was the toughest looking golf course I’ve ever seen. Look at the pictures. I’m not sure a golf cart would go across that land. Our first goal was The Cliffs of Moher. These cliffs are absolutely breathtaking!! They rise above the ocean 702 feet and you can climb up the left side or right. We opted to take the golf ... read more

Today was a typical start to the day.....breakfast at the hotel then on and gone by 8:30. We were headed to Blarney Castle as we got flooded out yesterday. We were trying to fit 2 days of sightseeing and activities into 1 day. If we were among the first at Blarney Castle, then we would beat the lines and be on and gone quickly. We were the first bus to pull in, so that was perfect. There was no line ahead of us. The hardest part of Blarney Castle is climbing to the top if you want to kiss the Blarney Stone. This was a big bucket list item for Nanci. I was worried about her foot holding out (she had 2 surgeries) as she climbed the 127 narrow, winding stairs to the top. She was ... read more

Today we were up early as it was a moving day. We were leaving Dublin for County Cork and the surrounding area and we had to have our suitcases outside our door by 7:30 AM. One thing nice about this company is they porter your luggage, as long as you have it where it supposed to be at the appropriate time. We couldn’t be late or we’d have to drag our luggage downstairs onto the bus by ourselves! We again have a breakfast buffet, and we’re to be on and out by 8:30 AM Today it was chilly. Plus it was raining. It wasn’t just a drizzle, but it wasn’t a hard rain…. Yet! Well I don’t mind riding the bus in the rain, but it makes it hard to take decent pictures! It was a ... read more

Today we had a breakfast time at 7:30 for a Hotel Breakfast Buffet. The buffet consisted of eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, baked beans, blood pudding, potatoes, a variety of cheeses, cold, cuts, fruit, cereal, porridge, yogurt, and cold cereals. there was something for everyone! I did have to laugh at the “luxury” granola!! Our new watch phase of this trip is on and gone. What that means is we were to be on the bus and pulling out at the designated time each day. So if the time was 8:30 the bus would pull out at 8:30 not 8:31! Today we were joined by a local guide for a tour around Dublin. She was a good guide, and very funny, but it seemed everything she pointed out, was on the right side of the bus… Of ... read more

Today was a day on our own, so we decided to take it easy, not set an alarm, and just have a slow start to our morning. By the time we were up and ready to start the day, it was past time to partake in the hotel breakfast. So we decided just to walk around town and find someplace to eat breakfast, brunch, or lunch. We saw McDonald’s, Burger King, and KFC. We decided to go in one of them, opened the door, and found it was a Mall! We walked through the mall, found a lovely café/coffee shop and decided to eat there. I had pancakes and fruit and a flat white. Nanci had a sausage roll and a great coffee. As we sat at the cafe having our breakfast, we looked around, and ... read more

Today was a travel day. We would leave our home in London, as that’s what The Balmoral House Hotel has become, and fly to Dublin to join our Ireland tour group. We were in no hurry as our flight wasn’t until 3:30, however we had to check out at 11:00. I went to breakfast, not only to eat, but to say my goodbyes! I had bacon, toast, and coffee and took some pictures of our friends. Once back at the room we finished packing and headed down to check out! A few years ago I met Israel Mora, an animator who has worked on Cats, The Lion King, The Mandalorian, and Prehistoric Planet. To my surprise he was standing in the office! I got a chance to Talk to him about his new projects…The Lion King ... read more

Today we got up early, were among the first for breakfast, caught a cab, and were at Victoria Station to meet our tour group by 8 am! We were headed to The Cotswold with Evan Evan tours. Our first stop was Burton on the Water. It is a quaint little village on the River Windrich. It is known for its low bridges and stone houses. There are 5 bridges built between 1654 and 1911, each cut from Cotswold stone. They give Birto on the Water the nickname of Venice of the Cotswolds. During the Middle Agest, the Cotswolds became rich from all trade. Much of the money was dedicated to the building of churches, and many large “wool churches“ remain today. Once wool trade ceased the area attracted wealthy landowners and prominent figures to purchase second ... read more

Today we had a reservation for the English Tea bus. This is a bus that has had part of the seats, removed, tables installed, and some innovative ways of keeping your food in place while driving around London. You’re board the bus, are served your tea and ride around London sightseeing and enjoying the city. What fun! The food was delicious and the scenery was great! Whoever outfitted, the bus did an outstanding job. They had a cupholder made out of a strip of wood, which also had a notch for champagne glasses. They had strapped the base of T plate holders onto the wood and the tables so that it wouldn’t move for the bus travel. Then just before we boarded, they put the plates with food on the three tiered plate rack. The food ... read more

Today was going to be an easy day, because there was 100% chance of rain here in London. We have been on a dead run ever since we arrived in United Kingdom, so we were looking forward to a day off. I spent the morning, trying to get everything canceled and trying to get some of our money back from our decision to stay away from Paris. The rest of the day we rested. We packed our suitcases and tried to make plans for the extra time we were going to have in London. if you’ve ever planned a big trip, you know it takes a lot of time, so I was grateful to have the time to work on planning. I made a reservation for us to take a tea bus around London, and to ... read more
