Sometimes I have a feeling China is not a country but a totally different world. It's a country full of DRASTIC contrasts.
Fascinating but at the same time scary. A country where the poverty borders on splendor, backwardness on the newest technology, slowness of vilages on speed of big agglomerations, gray traditional Chinese homes on the rainbow of colors of the shopping centers, help and the warm hearts of the Chinese on their lack of respect to the foreigners. It's a mix of cultures, religions, traditions, ways of thinking... It's amazing that in a country that probably has the biggest technology progress, people (still) believe in natural medicine, mix unknown to others herbs, believe in energy, calling ghosts out, predictions, lunar calendar...
It's a country of unique and VERY diverse landscapes. The area where delight borders on disgust, where it's hard to get used to certain things, although you see them every day.
And so my stay here is like this... full of contrasts and contradictory feelings. I've been aware of it since my friends started asking if I would like to stay here for a little bit longer. Sometimes I think why not, life is way slower here, I
have many friends, a job, a place to live... But on the other hand I can't imagine living here for a longer time. I'm fascinated by the Chinese culture, its beliefs, legends, traditions, the fact how deeply it's rooted not only in this country but also in its people's minds. Personally I do believe in many things, which "in the rest of the world" are considered funny or controversial.
Mentality of the Chinese is sometimes scary though. The way they treat people. If you want to adapt and live here for some time, you need to forget about everything you were used to back in Europe. About the way of thinking, living, behaving... At some point it's amazing but it's very tiresome too. There are moments that I don't know "what's real" anymore, I get to absurd thoughts and conclusions... For many people it may be unbelievable (I didn't believe it myself) but the differences are so big that I'm sure coming back to Poland, after one year of living in China, will be (another) cultural schock.

To kraj pelen DRASTYCZNYCH kontrastow. Fascynujacy, ale i
przerazajacy zarazem.
To kraj o niepowtarzalnych i BARDZO roznorodnych krajobrazach.
Jednak
mentalnosc Chinczykow czasem przeraza. Sposob w jaki traktuja ludzi. Chcac zaklimatyzowac sie i zyc tu przez pewien czas trzeba zapomniec o wszystkim, do czego bylo sie przyzwyczajonym w Europie. O sposobie myslenia, zycia, postepowania...
