After getting back to the RV last night, Ray proceeded to input photos to the blog. As you may have noticed, there were no captions with the pictures. He said that he had been over served, and that I was lucky the pictures got in! It was a fun night, and great to be having diner out. There were many laughs throughout the evening, many of them at my expense.
After breakfast this morning, Ray needed to dump the RV's tanks. As he was doing this, Raymond asked if he could show him how it's done, so he went over to his RV. They must have Conan working at the factory tightening up the dump tank cover. He worked on this thing for a good 10 minutes, and it wouldn't budge. Ray remembered his Navy days, where they said, if it doesn't move, get a bigger hammer. With a screw driver and an 2x8 they got the thing off, and Raymond successfully emptied his tanks.
Without further ado, we took of for Shelby, MT. The route took us on a brief stint through Idaho before returning to Montana. We headed up toward Helena and the scenery was spectacular. With
the Madison Range on our right, and the snow covered Pioneer mountains on our left, it was a gorgeous ride. As we were in Big Sky country, there were loads of ranches, some quite large. We kept an eye out for John Dutton's place, but no luck. Ray wanted to meet Beth.
We joined Hwy 15, and the scenery turned quite a bit different. It was mainly rolling hills and acres and acres of farm land. We pulled off the Hwy around Wolf Creek and parked on the side of the road to have lunch. Finished our leftovers from last night's dinner.
Taking off again, the topography got very hilly and quite lovely. The winds however began to pick up, increasing rapidly as we headed north. Driving a 31 foot RV in those winds was like putting out a sail in a hurricane. At one stop, Raymond said he had blisters on his hands. Ray had a death grip on the steering wheel, and said between his fingers being numb and callouses on his palms, it was going to ruin his sex life for at least a week. As we were going well below the 80 MPH speed
limit, everyone was passing us. Not a problem until a tractor trailer goes by. There is a huge rush of air, like a bow wave, that pushes the RV practically off the road. Fun times.
We finally arrived at our destination, Shelby RV Park. After checking in and locating our sites, we struggled to level the RV's due to the heavy winds. Raymond is starting to get the hang of backing in the site, and getting set up. Sitting inside, I feel like I might get sea sick. Ray said at least we'll get rocked to bed.
Well, we're just about ready to break open the vodka for our cocktail hour. Then dinner in with the boys. Tomorrow we cross the border and head to Banff. They had snow there this morning.
Total miles to date:1542
