Hi
I am travelling around Thailand in August and wnated to take the opportunity to visit Burma. I am aware of all the controversy that surrounds the country but I believe we owe it to the people of Burma to visit and inject money to local people when we can.
Anyway, I was wondering of anyone could give me some advice as to the bext possible route/tour to take to visit Burma?

Yes, as far as I know you can easily get a visa at the border or the international airport. I will let somebody else confirm that this is still true. The Burmese authorities are still eager to get as many tourists as possible, as far as I know.

Unfortunately, only a select few get contact with and make money from tourists. You wont even be able to get access to the parts of the country where the most abused and deprived live and they are not allowed out of that area either.

Reply to this have to arrange with travel agent to get voa to yangon.
Reply to this You can get two weeks into the south east corner of Burma from Mae Sai. The Burmese border guards there were some of the friendliest and most helpful I have encountered in 35 years of travel. In all my time in there I met one military guy who was trying to rip us of otherwise nice people all over the place.
