Fine Wine
Great photo.

Erta Ale Volcano

Oh my...
How I would have loved to see that. I absolutely love anything that is connected to volcanic activity. I have seen volcanic outbreaks, but only from a large distance. But to see an actual lava lake, and see it at a close distance, would be so awesome. /Ake

St George's Church

We loved the Lalibela churches
We visited Ethiopia in 2005 and we loved it there. The churches in Lalibela was only one of several places we visited that I have fond memories of. /Ake

Posada Plaza Mayor

My pick of your picture
Nice to read about Colonia del Sacramento. I pick this picture as my favourite. /Ake

Posada Plaza Mayor

Courtyard
This hotel was so lovely. I was sad that we only had one night there.

Museum of the Andes 1972

I've seen the movie
A few years ago I saw a movie about that event. The most aweful sequenses were actually not nearly as bad to watch as I thought they would. Montevideo seem to be a very quiet place. Do you think you were in a quiet area or would you say that the entire city is quiet? /Ake

Neighborhoods
I would say that we were in an area that is in a state of renovation, so probably a bit more lively elsewhere. I usually try to find the the "old neighborhoods" because they usually have more character. This was just a strange one.

Berthelot Island

And that's why I travel...
And now you know why I travel. One of the reasons is to escape the Scandinavian climate. /Ake

Tierra del Fuego - Lake Acigami

Eldslandet
It is called "Eldslandet" in Swedish. Literally just a translation of the name. It just sounds so different in Swedish compared with Spanish that I never made the connection. /Ake

Ethiopia
Well done. You always seem to have interesting trips with this company. I will have to look them up. We would like to get to Ethiopia sooner than later.

Tour guides
This Trekkup group is very addicting, based out of Dubai then they hook up with local tour companies. For Lalibela, I believe everything was directly arranged with the Sora Lodge, which I highly would recommend.

Last sunset

I already understood that you enjoyed the trip
I didn't have to read this blog entry to understasnd that you enjoyed the trip. Some other day I will have a go at the rest of your entries. Thanks for letting me follow you on your visit to Antarctica. /Ake

View from longer path

Again, looks great
As I said, it looks great but also looks very cold. If I would love to go to Grytviken on South Georgia island. Ernest Shackleton is buried there. It would be cool to see his grave. South Georgia island was not even close to your route I think. /Ake

Heavy snow and wind

Sorry about the bad weather
Sorry to hear that you had some bad weather and the excursion was cancelled. We had something similar happen to us in Spain during Easter. With the big difference that we can easily go back some other time and have a another attempt at that tour. You really can't I guess. /Ake

Polar Plunge

I would do that
I would totally go for the polar plunge just to say that I've done it. I have swum in the Barents Sea (Norwegian north coast) and some other weird places and it would feel quite right to have a go in Antarctica too. /Ake

Gentoo Penguins

Penguins
I also love penguins. I watched an episode of Planet Earth TV-series a few years back where they went to an island called Zavodovski Island. There are millions of penguins there. It looked really awesome on TV, but in reality it is supposed to smell pretty bad there. /Ake

Amazing landscape
Awesome landscape! I don't really like cold weather myself though so I might never go there myself. But it is awesome to look at your pictures. /Ake

Scientific Station

Probably an urban legend
I have heard a story that there somewhere in Antarctica is an abandoned station where they left hundreds of movie reels behind when they left. Supposedly those films are really valuable since many of them are rare movies from early 20th century. That's probably an urban legend though. It sounds too good to be true. But reading about the scientific station it makes me understand why such a legend has appeared in the first place. /Ake

Tierra del Fuego - Lake Acigami

Had to check Google maps
I had to check Tierra del Fuego. Now that I see where it is I realise that the problem is that it was the Spanish name that confused me. I know it by the Swedish name. I will now dive into the blogs of your Antarctica trip and it is going to be exciting. /Ake
