Philly and NYC Two very cool cities, nice to read about them again. It seems like you've been to New York many times in the past. It's such a dynamic city, it always amazes me how much more there is to see there year after year. The Little Island in the Hudson looks amazing, as does the very thin skyscraper. I also visited the Friends building when I was last there in 2022, but I couldn't find the Ghostbusters building... Such iconic memories from such an iconic city.
I also have to see the Men in Black building We love New York and that partly explains why we have been there multiple times. We have also noticed that New York is a good gateway to visit other places in the region. Flight to NYC are sometimes so cheap that it is better to fly to New York and from there buy separate tickes to other places in North America or the Caribbean that to book flights that takes us to the destination without the extra stop.
One building we have to see one day is Men in Black building. I think it is a power station or something.

Canada wins by far The view of the falls from the American side is not impressive although the river leading up to it is grand. Our first time at Niagara Falls we stayed at a Sheraton with a room facing the falls. It was spectacular as we could sit in our room with a floor to ceiling window and enjoy the show. Although nothing compares to getting up close and personal with the water. The power of water. I hate the tourist town that has grown around it but not much you can do to stop that sort of thing these days.
To love or to hate tourist towns? In Stockholm the old town may be described as a tourist town. In summer we avoid walking through there because of all the people. So to us locals the tourist invasion has somewhat damaged a part of Stockholm we actually love. But I have to admit that when I am in the old town in Tallinn I love the fact that it is a tourist town. I feel that it would have been less welcoming if it wasn't. So I have mixed feelings about tourist towns I guess. /Ake
It is powerful I like it too. I can almost sense the power of and hear the thundering from the water in that photo. Thanks for commenting on the blog. /Ake
Winter at Niagara I think it was a lot colder in winters when I lived in Ontario in the 60-70s , I was amazed that the Falls would freeze over , that was something to see !
Winter would be a different experience To see the Niagara Falls in winter would be a totally different experience I'm sure. I would love to see that some day. /Ake
Niagara Falls Thank you for confirming that the views are better on the Canadian side. I've only been to the Canadian side, and wondered what I was missing. I'm glad it's not that much! Yes, I remember the thundering power and awe you feel when there, particularly in the tunnel and openings behind the Falls. A true wonder of the world.
Wonder of the world It sure is a wonder of the world. Thankfully there are still plenty of those out there to explore. I will never run out of places to visit. /Ake
Toronto Some great photos here Ake. I particularly like your pictures of the Church of the Redeemer and its backdrop, and the Gooderham Building. I found Toronto a really great city to explore, and the glass floor at the top of the CN Tower was especially memorable for me.
Too many people in CN Tower We were unable to fully enjoy CN Tower because of all the people. Had there been fewer tourists there we would have enjoyed it more. /Ake
We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden.
We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. Not because we are running out of places to visit but because we find more places we want to go to faster than we manage to travel to them.
Some of the things from our travel bucket list we have ticked off since we started this blog in 2006 are
