On Saturday, Lisa drove us to the airport for our overnight flight to Dublin via Paris. When we arrived in Paris on Sunday afternoon, we settled in for our 4-hour layover. About 1/2 hour before our flight was supposed to board, our gate number was changed so we booked it to our new gate. John struck up a conversation with a young man from Brazil, who was going to Galway as a foreign exchange student. He spoke reasonably good English but I could tell he was nervous about what to do once he got to Dublin as he needed to get to Galway and wasn't sure how to go about it. He and John were engrossed in conversation when I noticed that our flight was delayed by about an hour and this was going to impact our transfer to our hotel. I quickly contacted Gate 1 and I told them what time we would arrive and was assured that our driver would be there. We boarded a little CityJet plane for our 1 hour 40 minute flight to Dublin. After going through Customs and collecting our baggage we met our Gate 1 bus driver who showed our Brazilian friend to the
Information desk and then we were on our way to the Gibson Hotel.
Our bus driver wanted to make sure that we didn't come here to get a suntan. We told him we brought an umbrella and a poncho. He said that the poncho would be best. It is green here for a reason. We were told to expect and be ready for anything.
Our meet and greet meeting was already in progress when we arrived. This is where we meet the tour director and are given a lot of the details of the trip, the most important one being punctuality. I think this is going to be a fun time. Our friends Carol and Frank were here (we met them in Germany on the Danube River Cruise). We met them for dinner in the hotel restaurant before saying goodnight. Bags out at 7:30 in the morning, breakfast and then a Dublin City Tour.
