Queen Hunting

Who would have thought that a weekend trip to Edinburgh would result in seeing the Queen! Twice!
I had gone there to spend some time with my brother Richard, and Rikki.
I was pleasantly surprised by Edinburgh, and at the time we were there, there were a few events happening which made it more action packed than first thought.
In the morning we realised that the day coincided with the opening of Scottish Parliament and the Queen was there for a visit.
We decided to see what the fuss was about and grabbed prime position to see the Crown and the Queen and Price Phillip arrive in to parliament, flanked by a big entourage of the Scottish Guard. Afterwards there was a parade and also the pride. The streets were pretty busy but it made for quite an eventful morning.
Edinburgh has some superb stone buildings around town and I got a sense of how old this city is. The castle overlooks the city and has fantastic views of all around. Likewise with Calton Hill and it's famous postcard shot of the castle and churches.
The second day we were walking down to Holyrood Park when we saw a little bit of a crown and a few police officers and it turned out the Queen was arriving for church, so again, and surprisingly, Richard and I claimed prime position and got a better view of the Queen and Prince Phillip.
We continued up the hill in Holyrood park which again has some great views overlooking the city.
After Richard and Rikki left, I took a walk through Princess Park which was nice as the sun had made an appearance.
It was a great little weekend trip to a amazing city with the added bonus of spending some time with my brother!
