This morning Sonya and Pat wandered down to the Boulangerie to pick up fresh pastries for our lunch. France being France, the Boulangeries are closed on Mondays!! So, we quickly got ourselves organized and headed out in hopes of finding a restaurant open somewhere!! We had luck in the town of Sauveterre de Guyenne. We found a place that sold sandwiches and yummy pastries. We had a nice lunch on their patio and then headed off to explore a few more backroads. Along our drive we came across some yummy blackberries which we helped ourselves to! Then on the next corner nestled in a small wooded area we came across an old 12th century Benedictine Abbey and church. The church doorway and the arches that frame it were decorated with some very interesting Romanesque carvings. Near the church are the ruins of the monastery buildings. The church still serves the local community.
