Once we were seated on the plane we both closed our eyes to try and sleep. We were lucky as the plane was not full, so we had three seats between the two of us. One of us decided she should stretch out and sleep while her wonderful partner got stuck sitting prone in his seat!
We were very happy to see that our luggage also made it home with us. Our taxi driver picked us up soon as we walked out of the terminal and we had a lovely day waiting us. Everything here is so beautiful and green and the sky are vibrantly blue. Those are a couple of the reasons we are always happy to come home to Costa Rica. When we arrived the jungle had crept in a little closer to our home and the birds were singing. The house was just was we had left it, with just the addition of a layer of dust and some gecko poo!
We unpacked our suitcases, showered and headed out to get some food to put in our empty fridge. One of our wonderful neighbours kindly supplied us with a delicious meal for our dinner.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the
two extraordinary countries we were so lucky to explore. We have some wonderful memories to cherish and new friends we hope to see again. We had so many different types of highlights it is hard to pick favourites, but the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall were definitely at the top. We were so lucky to be able to fill some of our lifelong dreams while visiting these two amazing countries. We were away for 43 days while visiting 3 countries, 4 if you include Hong Kong. We flew on 12 flights, sat in 10 different airports, spent 58 hours in planes, slept in 18 different beds, drank hundreds of bottles of water, and traveled in taxis, planes, bullet trains, subways, local buses, double-decker buses, tuk-tuks, bamboo rafts, kayaks, ferries, private cars, bicycle rickshaws, tour buses, local trains, jeeps, gondolas, trams, motorcycle, and camels!
We will always remember India with very fond memories of the people and their everyday life. It is a photographer's paradise. It is a chaotic country with amazing sites, delicious foods, lots of cows and filth and garbage everywhere. Even with all this garbage in the streets we never saw rats (except for the Rat Temple) or
cockroaches, etc. Amazing. Caucasians are often asked to have a photo taken with a local or their whole family. A young woman traveling with us was asked at least thirty or more times during our visit to the Taj Mahal! We are also happy to say that neither of us suffered from the infamous "Delhi Belly" so often associated with India.
China was incredibly heavily populated and polluted almost everywhere we visited. The country has some fabulous sights to visit, and we loved to learn about Chinese history. Unfortunately, the Chinese are a dour people who seldom smile and often stare. They have some disgusting personal habits, include violent spitting (both men and women), and heavy smoking. In some areas of China we were again celebrities and people would want their photo with us.
We are now back to the rainy season here in Costa Rica. This afternoon we had a huge thunder and lightning storm to welcome us home. One of the big cracks burned out our internet supply and router, so we have know idea when this will get posted. Thanks for checking in and following our blog.
