We slept a little later today. After breakfast, a driver picked us up, along with 3 other travellers, for a kayaking trip on the Li River. We drove east of Yangshuo to the village of Dutou, where we met our kayaking guide. He equipped us each with a kayak, and followed us on a motorized raft. It was another sunny and hot, though smoggy, day. The Li River is quite wide, but fairly shallow. There were occasional faster sections of water, but for the most part the river was a pleasant paddle. In this section there were few other recreational boats, but a few fishermen, and the occasional water buffalo soaking neck-deep in the river. There were occasional bursts of firecrackers from the banks of the river, as today is the Mid-Autumn Festival. We paddled down the river about 18 km, where we again met our driver, who drove us back to Yangshuo.
