I woke up from my dream....and they were all back!
I just don't think I can truly explain china. I just don't get it. First off, today I came to work and there was no power. Which seemed to be a suprise only to me! But anyway, I rush to get my monster lesson plan done for my 4th and 5th graders. Today is a busy day seeing as I have actually 3 classes, plus English Corner (which I don't even now what that really is). So I finally finish my nifty powerpoint which has pictures of monsters hanging out with me at the beach, dancing and at the great wall and I head up towards my fourth grade classroom.

It is normally quite loud and there are students running around the hallways during the breaks between class. But today it was strangely silent, and I thought to myself, maybe I was really late. But I looked even closer and saw that all the doors to the classrooms were closed, which in this October heat, would never happen. Regardless, I continue to climb the 5 flights of stairs to my next class. I huff and I puff and at last, I make it to the classroom and there are, in

Don't let those peace signs fool you...last week this group was a bunch of hell'ins....but today they were cute, so I took their picture.
fact, no students in the classroom or anywere on that floor or the 4 floors below it or in 2 of the floors in the other building. I know that I have seen students today, I still see some now, just not any of the younger (pioneer) students. So I go to the 4th grade office....closed. I walk back into my office and its as if there is nothing different from today. I go over to one of the teachers who speaks some english and pose this simple, yet quite profound question for a teacher to ask. "Where are all the students?" Oh yes, she says, the primary students have gone to the park for the day! Could anyone have told me that!! No. Why? Because this is China.

So what do you do when you can't find any students to teach......you go shopping? Wal-mart, here I come!

Yes, you can bring one home. I would like a little cousin for Meredith.
