As we got to bed late last night we slept in today - well a sleep-in when you're on holiday. By 8.20 we were down at breakfast to find Nana and Pa basically the only people there. There would've been no more than eight other groups down there in the time we were there! This was good as it meant it was quiet but it also meant that the buffet was smaller than last time, a lot smaller. We believe the 'Red Shirts' scared everyone off.
After breakfast we went back to our rooms, changed then went out again. We met Nana and Pa at 'Georges', their tailor friend as the cleaning lady was in our room so it took us a while to be allowed in. From Georges we walked to McDonalds outside Robinsons to check out the Wi-Fi as at the hotel the smallest amount of time you can buy it for is a week. We left Maccas half an hour later with no luck getting internet so walked through Robinsons, over a bridge, down an escalator and into an internet cafe, where I did the yesterday's travelpod.
Later on Pa went and got a pedicure, Nana
came back to the hotel and mum and I went looking around Robinsons. Everything is so expensive there even if our dollar is 29 baht. My feet are to big here to, so we couldn't look at shoes, although I tried pretty hard.
We then met up with Nana and Pa again and went shopping in 'Tops'. Mum was fascinated by the different flavoured pringles, chips, and soft drink like strawberry fanta. We bought some of this (I think mum will put up photos), Nana was fascinated by how much it had changed from last time, Pa was fascinated with the lipgloss. Nothing really stuck out to me but I still enjoyed it. We followed shopping with some lunch. It works on a token basis, so you cash in 300 baht, receive 300 tokens use what you need and return the rest for money. With our 300 tokens(10 Aussie dollars) we got a Hong Kong fried rice for me, fried rice with crackled pork for mum, sticky rice and mango for Nana and Pa, a sprite and a cold chocolate I think Pa called it. And 85 tokens change. Pretty good value if you ask me.
When lunch was over
mum and I walked down the market that just follows the roads for roughly a kilometre and came back with 2 tops for me, a torch for mum and a strawberry icy-pole. After eating the icy-pole we got changed into our bathers and went to level 3, down the corridor, through a door, down several flights of stairs and then we arrived at the pool. I got in hoping I wouldn't get the bad reaction to the chlorine as I spent the weeks before smothering myself in some cream. I did my hydrotherapy, we went in the spa and just swam, well I doggy-paddled in the deep bits. When we had enough we got out had a pool-side shower, well just stood under it, froze as the water was so cold, got out and sat on the sun beds. Nana challenged me to the 'target word' in the paper. I got 12 and she got 6 words. I then started writing this and everyone else did their own thing. Now I'm up in the hotel room updating this and putting onto a memory stick to take down to wherever the internet is this time.
Well it took us back to
the same place as before, but after some dinner. Mum and I shared an omelette thing, Nana of course had Tom Yum soup and I'm not quite sure what to call Pa's tea. We finished dinner off with a really nice strawberry frappe (whatever that is).
When we finished dinner we all went for a walk down the market again and bought some postcards and a lamp thing for my room; we're pretty sure it'll get through customs. Then we walked back to Maccas and got a sundae each and asked about Wi-Fi. We were told they don't have it, which totally contradicts the sign on the door saying Wi-Fi here. And from there we ended up here. Turns out Bangkok doesn't have much internet access.
