With our haul out date approaching, we sailed through the Grenadines much faster than we would have liked, but it was reassuring to know that our next cruising season would start in this area.

We jumped from Bequia to Canouan to Carriacou. Canouan was only an overnight anchoring stop. Once in Carriacou, which is part of Grenada, we checked in feeling a sense of relief that we only had one final leg to get us to our 2016 cruising goal: The island of Grenada.

We stayed in Carriacou for a few days at two different anchorages. We checked in at the larger town of Hillsborough, not realizing that the more popular cruiser's bay, Tyrell Bay, was also a check-in point. Apparently this was new, and our 2016 guide was not up-to-date! Anyways, in my opinion, it turned out for the best, because the days that we spent in Hillsborogh were lovely. Cruising boats came and went...very obviously to check in...as they left again in a hurry. Meanwhile, we anchored and stayed put, in our usual fashion. The water was clean and clear, town was a-bustling, we met the friendly locals, there were plenty of restaurants, bars and grocery stores. There were very few tourists.

Then we moved to Tryell Bay only to find it packed with cruising boats. Ugh. It was definitely not my favourite spot, except for the super crazy eccentric live-aboard boat anchored in front of us. It was a sight to see...especially twice a day when the captain returned to pump out the gallons of water that the boat was taking on. I've never seen so much water come out of a boat that wasn't already SUNK!

As the saying goes: "All boats are slowly sinking." After watching tons of water being pumped out of his boat with (what was obviously) a high capacity pump, I am grateful for a boat that is sinking extremely slowly. 😉 Makes me appreciate our VERY awesome boat. Ah. Good times.
