Got away early and drove down a switchback before dawn, to get to the Gooseneck NP. where the Colorado is like a concertina. Arrived right on sunrise. More good vistas. Got a bit of a fright as the Gas gauge was showing empty and I knew it shouldn't be. By the time I got to the next town "Mexican Hat" it righted itself so kept on going. Along the way I stopped at San Juan and Monument Valley NP. WOW what a sight. No wonder Forrest Gump decided he didn't want to run anymore. Its Mesa heaven. (sorry Eric, but I missed the Mesa Verde and 4 corners to come here instead). I believe my trip has been well worth it just in the last few days. And yes Tanja it was worth it just visiting you and Leonard again. Stopped at Kyenta to refuel and headed towards the Grand Canyon. At the turnoff the sign said they wanted $30 a car, so I decided that it wasn't in my budget just to see a big hole in the ground. Next port of call was Bedrock City. I paid $5 to see the Flintstones museum. In my opinion it may have been great in its day. But it hasn't been touched since and lacked any appeal. Also the gift shop had very little Flintstone memrobillia. Mainly replica Indian souvenirs and T Shirts of the Grand Canyon etc...
