Photos of Fira, the main town in Santorini. I loved Fira and was staying in a villa just outside the town. Some people have written that Fira is overly commercial, sure it is commercial but no more so realistically, than Queenstown in NZ. Santorini is a tourist island, as Queenstown is a tourist town. Get over it! And enjoy everything else it has to offer. There is nothing like sitting back in a comfy chair sipping an ice cold drink with cruisy sounds playing in the background as you take in the wonderful view of the amazing caldera.

Fira also has some wonderful churches to photograph, great narrow pathways to walk along exploring and lots of food stands where you can get good gyros (which I lived on, along with the grapes)! It also has some great clubs for dancing. And if you are rich, jewellery shops by the dozen with totally amazing gems.

Racing this time.......I walked down then back up the 600 odd steps to Fira's small port. The donkeys seemed keen to race each other at times.

Some of the great girls I met where I was staying. I really missed them when they all left!

Once again - fabulous shots Dee ! Makes my painting hand buzz !! I had thought you would be staying over there quite a bit longer. It was certainly a great trip - NZ always seems a lot further away when I fly back than when I left to go !!
