Today was tram and train day. We caught the tram close to our hotel The Novotel in Nice and travelled to The Gare de Nice. Then it was a 40 minute train journey along the pretty coastline to Menton. Travel by bus, tram or train is excellent value and a great way to see the Cote d'Azure. Menton is set below mountains by the sea and has a nice atmosphere. We walked along the promenade and had a nice meal of salmon washed down with glasses of rose wine. After a pleasant walk along the promenade to the marina we climbed the steps to the church. The old part of Menton was very interesting with old houses and narrow streets and is full of charm. The return rail trip to Nice had great scenery, with views of the sea, beaches and villages. Menton may not be one of the most talked about places to visit on this coastline but is certainly worth a visit.
