Gonja - Funali - Lobi
Feeling our work is done in the south, Kirk and I have been traveling the Northern Regions of Ghana searching for our new home land. We think we have found it. Recently, we took a family trip to the northern town of Damongo. We all fell in love with the tribes and local missionaries.
The Lord willing, these three northern tribes will soon be our new neighbors!
The Gonja people are asking a lot of questions concerning the gospel. There are few who have the biblical answers to give. In their villages churches are far and few between. Several villages have no church at all. Each and every chief we met asked us to return and stay with his people and teach the gospel message. Kirk certainly has his work cut out for him in the area of discipleship. The harvest is truly ripe but the laborers are few. Presently we are hoping to find a comfortable and affordable accommodation to rent in the small town of Damongo. This will give us time become more acquainted with the people and area,
We will take short trips to work in the surrounding villages.
Christine, Ophelia, Cynthia & Emmanuel (now 6 months) have fallen in love with a settlement of Fulani that live on the outskirts of Damongo. The Fulani are a nomadic tribe with A LOT of friendly cows and fried cheeeeeese! Yum. This particular group settled in this area several years ago. Within this settlement extra money for school fees is hard to come by. Boys spend their days herding cattle. They have only one young girl who attends school. Christine, Ophelia & Cynthia have been asked if they will come teach the rest of the kids. They were told two mud huts will soon be built for them.
