Rotarua - More Geo Thermal and a whole lot more!

A short drive into Rotorua, a city full of geothermal wonders. Visiting Te Puia, one watches geysers and bubbling mud. There are many sounds erupting from the earth. A giant cooking pot of steam, boiling and popping. Chris gives an Asian man the thumbs up, and every time we see him on the walk his thumb goes up. The Maori red wood carvings are incredibly detailed.
We decide to do the Segway Rotorua tour. Making our way through downtown, Chris sees a Canadian fellow he knows from work and they arrange to meet for supper. While cruising, the rain pours down and the group seeks cover under the trees. Shortly after, our guide Richard directs us to a hillside and says 'go have some fun!'
Chris has already done a header on the grassy path, but now Reese goes for a tumble, and my Segway goes left, while I go flying right. Note: Segway tires and wet grass do not go together. Think I've pulled a muscle in my leg. Enough excitement for today.
Next morning, just cannot leave NZ without visiting the Waitomo glow worm cave. The stalagmites and stalactites are most impressive. Getting in the boat, we silently float in complete darkness through the cave gazing upward at thousands of glow worms twinkling overhead. A magical image. This is a must do.
Whew! Back where we started a month ago in Auckland. Time for a rest, especially for my leg.

Aren't the worm caves fun! Those Segway look ? scary! Glad you made it to Rotarua, did you see the cultural centre? Have you eaten at a hungi yet (a dinner steamed in a natural steam hole)? Amazing pics and commentary!

Hello Cathy and Chris! Just wanted to check in and let you know how much we are enjoying your blogs! We are loving reading all about where you've been and the things you've seen and done. Your writing paints such a good picture of it all. We have absolutely enjoyed traveling through New Zealand! I think we are done there now and headed to the next stop? Cant wait!
