Out last two days on the Maldives and not a lot to do. Friday is a day of rest so we did, lazing about until mid day before walking through town and stopping off in the park to use up a bit more time while waiting for the ferry to start running.
We went over to Male again and had a wander along the Sea front there really isn't a lot to do or see here apart from boats! So it was back to the Sea House to watch the fish again. Then ferry back and walked back to the hotel.
We ate at the hotel's Indian Durbar restaurant again as the food was so good the night before and that was another day done.
Our final day in the Maldives and ferries etc were back to normal, as our flight wasn't until 9.10 pm we decided to visit Villingili Island as it is very close to Male. We ferried to Male thrn taxied over to the other ferry terminal and caught a ferry over.
Villinghilli is another locals island bigger than Dhiffushi but still easily walkable. So we set off following the coastline where possible and
walked round the island.
The beaches here are all public ones so no bikinis allowed. At one lovely sheltered bay there were lots of women all fully clothed in the sea with their children and a group of schoolgirls fully clothed all messing around and having fun. I do wonder if their clothes weigh them down and if they envy the lads who only wear shorts?
We managed to get ripped off having some drinks, how a menu can say one price but when you query why you have been charged an extra £3 for your two drinks you are just told it is the computer and management problem I don't know!
Feeling a bit pissed off we caught the ferry back and went to fish watch again and saw loads but no dolphins this time sadly.
We strung things out as long as we could but eventually had to catch the ferry back to Hulhumale. As we crossed a massive wave came straight through the window, soaking Howard and splashing me and the girl next to me. I laughed so loud the women in front turned round and one very nearly smiled!!! The closest we
have come to seeing a smile here!
We were unsuccessful at getting tea as there were no breads available until 6pm and curry isn't the same without it. So we gave up and headed for the airport.
It was one of the most disorganized airports we have been too. With long queues for everything which we eventually got through. By now Howard wasn't feeling too well and just wanted to sit down so we made our way through duty free, past all the alcohol that isn't allowed in the country and found a seat.
The place was just full of Chinese people, all talking really loudly and spending money like water! Everything was mega expensive!!
Despite the lack of information we found our departure gate area and it was swarming with Chinese but to be fair our flight was going on to China after Colombo. The flight was delayed about 45 minutes and in the end we were just relieved to be on a plane and going.
The Maldives Islands are gorgeous and I wish we had had longer in Dhiffushi instead of the rubbish filled building site we stayed on but we didn't so
I was ready to move on.
