Getting Ready for Southeast Aisa

It feels strange to write a post from my house. It is so much easier on the computer with a good internet connection than on my phone or tablet with an unreliable connection. The goal of my blog is to share the experience with as many of my friends, family and strangers who are interested in hearing about our travels and work to provide affordable housing in Cambodia. I try my best to give my readers a connection with our experience and include personal observations whenever I can. If you couldn't join me on the trip, I want you to feel like you were there. It is not always easy given the tech issues and the extraordinarily busy days, but I do my best. I will post as time and circumstances allow.

I am using this snowy day to get the blog set up and ready to go. This evening was supposed to be our first team bonding experience. Mother Nature got in the way and we had to cancel. I will wait another 10 days until I can really get to meet some of my new team members. I know a few of our team members, but for now I only have demographics to share. A little about our team.

We are 22 people ranging in age from early 20's to early 70's.

We are 11 men and 11 women.

We are 5 Habitat Wake staff members (including our CEO & an Americorp Volunteer)

We are 3 Habitat Wake board members (myself included)

We are 5 members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (including their pastor)

We are 2 people living OUTSIDE of NC. (Indiana and Florida)

We are 11 people that have done global village (GV) trips in the past. One team member has done 13! A little advertisement here. . . This is a testament to the great experience our volunteers have. They keep coming back to serve again.

Many of take advantage of adding on nearby travel to our GV experiences. That I know of others are visiting:
