Dieppe beach
This was a pebble beach on the English Channel (not far from Calais) What a great day! Headed off at a decent time for a 3 hour to Dieppe. The drive was very nice and scenic with a few slow downs for construction but not too bad. Arrived in Dieppe in time to wander the city centre and find a quaint restaurant to eat lunch on the patio. Me and the kids all had Croque Madame (like Croque Monsieur but with a fried egg on top and with a "Chef Specialty" sign on the menu) which was delicious (and on my list of foods I must eat while here) while Nigel tried Steak hache bleu. We all enjoyed our meals very much and the atmosphere was fun too. Then we wandered around some more until we found the pebble beach. This is the historical site where 5000 men stormed the beach trying to overturn the already established Germans in 1942 (4000 of whom were Canadians). There was a memorial piece of art commemorating the event which was really cool. We also found a park adjacent to the beach where they had all sorts of sports and games for all to try. We played some ping pong, some other unknown games, and then the highlight
Wet feet
Yup, shoes got wet..... - sumo wrestling (see photos). It was hilarious! Then we ate some yummy crepes and walked along the beach walkway and out to the pier. Then back along the pebble beach. It was a fairly cool day so no swimming for us in the English Channel but that did not stop others from taking a dip! Brrrrrrrrrr. Looking along the beach, there was a great view of the cliffs and the Chateau Musee at the top of the cliffs. Then we walked back through town to find the Chateau Musee and once there, we walked all around and even got kind of close to the edge of the cliffs to see the view! Then back to our car and headed back home. The drive home was also nice and we are finding navigating the highways a little easier each day (mostly I mean my map reading skills are getting marginally better).

Cliffs!!
Wow Lori, I can't imagine you up on those cliffs!!! Good for you. Beautiful pictures so far. You seem to be far enough out of the city to avoid the congestion, yet close enough to ride your bikes in - perfect! Can't wait to see pictures of Versailles :)
