Tomorrow morning I will hop on a bus and head for Los Arcos staying in the Albergue Austria and then head out on the 26th. It has been raining very hard here so that's complicated matters .I was going to walk west from Pamplona to Puente La Reina over the Alto de Perdon however the official word is that it's mudd and slippery slopes up and down the mountain, not necessarily a good thing for a recovering knee. So I will start where I originally had planned to start, Los Arcos ,and where I had stopped last time I was here.
This year the Camino is very crowded. It is a religious year ,so I suppose that's part of the issue but also the popularity of the Camino has grown and that has attracted more and more people to it. Unfortunately the bed population has not increased as fast as the people population has.
All or most of the Alburgues are getting full before 3 o'clock the hostals are next up in quality and they are getting full quickly too .Then you have hotels if you're in the big city otherwise if you cannot walk a fast pace and your
heading to a small village or town you might not get a bed. That's unfortunate because the Camino should not be a race for a bed. if I wanted a guarantee on a bed I would have stayed home and walked around my house not travel 3000 miles.
Don't think this has dampened my spirits it hasn't .I'm still excited looking forward to the adventure and plan to maneuver around whatever obstacle I have to maneuver around.
Once I head out from Los Arcos on the 25th I will have 411.7 miles to go to reach Santiago de Compostela.Wish me luck .

Best of luck!
Good decision to avoid Alto de Perdon. The descent can be more difficult than the hike up, and more dangerous if muddy and slippery! Enjoy Los Arcos!
