Indian HeadIndian HeadIndian Head

Just arrived at Indian head. The best fishing spot ever but we still haven't caught any fish. We need Xavier with us.
Fraser Island Saturday 30th April
Today we leave Dundaburra and head up further north to the Waddy Point camp ground. Only about 20 km up the road, oh sorry, beach road. It rained a lot last night to the point that Steve's tent leaked more than it should. Jasmine was swimming inside the tent. We have now given Steve our Oz tent which we were using for storage of our stuff and it doesn't leak. Tonight his family will sleep in our tent and hopefully they will stay dry. It seems to rain every night. We obviously sleep in our Troopy pop Top. The trip to Waddy point was uneventful. We had to do some beach driving, thank god it was not in the dark ( I think I will be scarred for life after yesterday). We did a little soft sand driving and a few creek crossings and also some fresh water lakes, or puddles in truth. Anyhow we found the campground and found a good spot for all three cars to settle. After an hour or so we went to the local Orchid beach shop. It took a while to find. It was not as good as Eurong and there were no clothes washing facilities. Looks like hand washing of clothes for the next five nights. Interesting we have encountered cane toads here. There are thousands of them. I have never seen so many live and dead toads. They are a true menace. Interestingly no toads in the more southern parts. Noting though there is plenty of lake style fresh water which is perfect for these toads. Now it's time to talk about fishing. As we drove up the beach Paul saw fish jumping close the the shore. We have seen heaps of people fishing the beach and also the rocks at Indian point. It appears they are all fishing for bait to allow them to go out in their enormous boats. There is a boat ramp here which is just boats launched from the sand. No ramp. They seem to be catching with pippies and it is bait fish. We tried fishing with the lures and we noticed a few others with similar lures fishing off the rocks ( they must also be from Victoria). Anyhow I think my brother in law Xavier would be in heaven here.
