So before our mid-semester break we decided to buy a car to get us around the whole island. After a while of searching on TradeMe (kinda like NZ's ebay) we found the perfect car. For NZ$700 we bought a used 1985 Subaru Justy LT. This is the best car I think I have ever owned. It gets a a little over 16 km/L which is like 38 miles per gallon. With gas at about NZ$1.43/L or US$3.52/gallon which is the lowest since I have been here the high gas milage is great. We have already put a good 5500 km on it and it just keeps going and going untell you forget to put gas in it and then it starts to stop and you have to walk to the gas station. This was the first time I have ever ran out of gas it was good because it was a nice little walk and very refressing. It does only have a 1000cc engine so I does not speed up that fast but it's perfect for the lower speed limits and windy roads here.

P.S. If anyone is interested in a car like this around the 7th of Nov or so in Chirstchurch let me know because I will be heading back home and I'll be selling the car.

These great covers came with the car.

Things I thought were a little funny: the gas gauge goes from 1 to 0 and the spedometer turns red at 100km/h. Maybe because the speed limit is 100km/h?

When we bought it, it had no radio so for about $50 of supplies I added a tape deck that has a radio and headphone input. The music then is sent out of two speakers, one in the front right and one in the back left. Quality sound system.

Just like a middle backseat seatbelt, the side ones need to be hand tightened eventhough they go over your shoulder.

School
I think I'm going to school here, although it only takes up like maybe 25% of my time. It's pretty different from CSM.

Car to the US
It would be great to bring back but kinda weird driving on the outside edge of the road since the wheel is on the right and you have to dive on the right. Then it might cost a couple dollars to ship. Haha.
