96!

We were fortunate to be in Sydney to celebrate Mum's 96th birthday on February 13th.

Although her memory is slipping she loves company and being taken on an outing from the care facility where she now lives.

She cherishes the memories of her many trips to Canada and the friends she made there.

A drop of scotch
Now only enjoyed once in awhile, Mum enjoys 'a little weak scotch' before her evening meal. This was a birthday gift from Canadian friend David.

She was so happy to have all of her family here in Sydney for her birthday.

Getaway
Marlene and I took Mum on an overnight excursion to a beach cottage not too far from Sydney. Like us, she loves to go to sleep with the sound of the waves close by.

Birthday Winner!
Garry and Jan gave Marlene a 'scratch it' card for her birthday. She was delighted to win $500!

Blue tongued lizard
This almost pet lizard (about 3' of him) lives under Garry & Jan's back deck and helps to keep the garden snail population in check.

Schoolmate
I last saw Rowan when we graduated from Nowra High School in 1964.
It was a challenge to catch up on a half century of life experiences.

On the harbour
Friend David from Canada spent a busy week with us. When he left Perth to join us in Sydney it was 45c. The same day at his home in Ontario it was -42c! He was glad to be here!
