Run, Paul, Run
Forrest Gump Restaurant Climb aboard the time machine. We are traveling back in time to Thursday, January 14th. We are still in catch up mode, 'member? Before we left for Universal Studios, Paul took Cory and I for a ride in his shiny, new, red corvette. I don't think I have ever been in one. I had just washed my hair so it provided the perfect hair dryer - pricey but perfect. Because Paul is a professional race car driver, I was not afraid to ride with him in this high powered speed wagon. I was just concerned about the police chasing him to give him a ticket. He said we would just outrun them....yikes. He drove carefully because I was such a fuss-pot. I felt like Mrs. Got-Rocks but looked like Fanny Frompt with my squirrelly hair. It was a cool ride....couldn't believe how close to the ground we sat. Just some metal saving you from a major bum brush burn. Cory loved his sensational ride, also. "Thanks For The Ride" Paul.
We jumped into our Ford Flex and headed to Universal Studios. An extreme from the corvette convertible but it got us there. Cory and I still have our annual passes
Clare at the Helm
Paul enjoys the ride for Universal (runs out in early February ...not sure that we will renew) which allows us free parking and free entrance into the parks. Parking cost $20 there now. These parks must think we are all made of gold & money.....it has become almost too far overboard. Lulu could probably get in half-price since she is less than half a woman. She stayed home this time. Her head has gotten fat and heavy. Until she looses some weight, she shall remain a couch potato. We made the big entrance into a City Walk after going through more stringent security checks .....metal detector as well as bag inspection. Lots of good photo opts. It was the perfect day to ramble around the park....sunny, warm but not hot (we haven't seen hot since we got here). The crowds were much less so line-wait-times were minimal. The Hulk ride is down for renovations....not that I would even consider going on it....puke and hurl. They are building a new King Kong experience now. We finally arrived at Harry Potter land. Clare was loving this as she has read some of the books and watched some of the movies. First quest: get butter beer. Ooooo-
Pedal faster, boy
The perfect lady..... sooo good! We boarded the Hogwarts Express to travel to London. All happy and cozy inside our private compartment on the train. All aboard! WHAT? You have to be kidding! They are announcing and telling all of us to get off the train cause something is wrong with it...please say it's a joke. Nope.....we all straggle onto the loading dock with long, pathetic faces. They keep announcing that there is a problem and it will take an undetermined amount of time to fix it. Several people give up the ship and leave the area. Paul convinced Cory and Clare to follow the group. I struggled....nope, I'm not leaving. I have faith this issue will be fixed soon. With all this magic around us, it has to be. If not, we can hop a ride on Harry's broom. As I clenched my hands on the cold, metal railing, my cohorts tried with all their might to drag me with them. I held tight and strong. Yep....I was right (not wanting to tell anyone that)...the train had left and now returned so we could reboard. Grinning like the Cheshire Cat, I led out disillusioned party back into our private booth. Quietly tapping
I'm so tired
I love to sleep the Na-Na-NaNa tune with my tired toes. And the journey began. Quickly we arrived in London and made our way to Dagon Alley. It is amazing what this fictional world is like. Just awesome. After skipping around Harry's place, we tried to finish up the rest of the park. Paul wasn't feeling it...he had had enough. We stopped off at Finnegan's Bar & Grill for a boost but it was only enough of a boost to allow us to drag our wilted bodies out to the car. Ah, to be young again.
Paul and Clare treated us to dinner at the Olive Garden. Love that place. Filled to the brim, we rolled ourselves back to the car and headed home. Once at Tropical Palms, Cory and Clare headed down to The Veranda for an evening of karaoke. Paul, Lulu and I stretched out on the couches and watched The Big Bang Theory (my very favorite TV show). Clare returned singing her lungs out....because that's the only way she got to express herself. No karaoke tonight. They were disappointed. They would have made the perfect duet....Cory could tap his toes and clap his hands while Clare belted out her favorite
Serious observers
Squirting the water riders tune. But it wasn't meant to be.
Exhaustion was felt in every cell of our bodies. No time to waste - it's time to go to bed. And that's all folks.....for this day, anyway. Catch you next time around. Get some rest so you are ready for whatever calls. Clare sang herself to sleep.
