Tasmaina

Since I last got in contact with you I was in Tasmania (i think?) Which was ace after Launceston which is where i left you i got the bus to Hobart the capital city of Tassie. It was a beautiful place and it was reasonably warm compared to Melbourne. The best thing i did here was a mountain bike descent of Mount Wellington. It was a gorgeous day and the bus picked me up at 9.30am. I was expecting a few backpackers like me out for a fun wee cycle ride - yeah right. it ended up we had four guides - two of whom had just been cycling the whole of taz with the other two passengers. So everybody was really into their cycling. Bar me thank god we were going downhill and not up! It all worked out great though and i was soon taking on the off road stretches with no fear (the only reason i had no fear was because the sun was in my eyes and i couldn't see just how steep it was). It was really awesome though and id definately do it again.

Adelaide

So after tasmaina i caught the plane to adelaide. It looked pretty stunning from the plane the sea was blue the sun was shining and there were a few grassy hills in sight. So i gathered it'd be hot - 27C! That was a bit of a shock to the system after tassies 18c but i was not one to complain. It also just so happened there was a huge hippy festival called the peace festival on right beside my hostle on the day i arrived. This turned out to be a stroke of good luck as the reception in my hostle didnt open til 5 and i had four hous to kill. It was ace i found a tree sat on my rucksack and listened to the free live music, chatted to a few hippies and just had a good time til i got into the hostel.
Next thing in Adelaide was the Barossa Valley wine tour. The groovy grape bus pciked us up and took us to the biggest rockinbg horse(that doesn't really rock) in the world. then it was on to the winery's. Jacobs creek and richmond valley being the two your most likely to have heard of. Anyways by the luck of the irish - as they say - there was an irish lassie on my bus and we decided we'd share a bottle of black cat shiraz at the lunchtime bbq (where i ate some skippy) like we needed anymore wine to drink we were already on a wine tour!! And the last winery we went to was a free for all just ask to taste any wine and you can style. So i dont think i need to explain that i was glad to get to my bed that night and had a bit of a head ache for flying up to Bribane the next day. It was ace though and really interesting to hear about how the wine is made. P.S. Did you know that 49%!o(MISSING)f all the wine produced by jacobs creek gets shipped to the U.K.

Brisbane

Well i got to brisbane last Wednesday - the 20th of September and too be honest i wasn't so impressed. its a huge building sight with cranes and rubble and workmen all over the CBD. The rest of it is really pretty though and the Botanical gardens have

In the background is mt wellington - the one i biked down
big lizards in them. I nearly squashed one putting my bag down and i absolutely wet myself. It was a little scary. Kinda got used to them after a while though. They also have a beach right in the middle of the city. on the side of the river. its really cool, has sand water and a lifeguard tower. I think they need to get one in Aberdeen it would definately be a crowd puller. So after my exploring in Brisbane i decided to go up to Hervey Bay and that is what i'll tell you about next time. It was so good that it'll need its own entry. Hope alls well and look out for part two, complete with photos very soon.
