Hi everyone
We are currently cruising between Spain and Italy and will reach civiteveccia, the Rome cruise port tomorrow morning. Peter has come down with the dreaded lurgy. I'm pretty sure more misery rather than death is imminent. It can't be man flu because he caught it from Liz!
Over the last few days we have visited Santa Cruz in Tenerife, Madeira and Malaga in Spain. Very pleasant Mediterranean cities with lots of beaches, azure sea and sunshine as you would expect. I can see why the Brits are drawn to the Med especially in winter. Warm sunny days lazing round would trump freezing cold dark days any time.
We found an op shop in Malaga. First one for the trip. I bought 3 scarves and a black woollen military coat. I'll break it out in Rome I think. Scarves are very useful for a number of things other than neck warming. For example hiding the fact that you're wearing the same dress for the third day in a row or hiding the fact that you've spilt something on said dress!
One thing I really love on this ship are the shows. Apart from being
freaked out by Alice in Wonderland, I ventured back and have found them really entertaining. There is a different singing, musical or variety show every night. A couple of nights ago we had an opera La Traviata. Unfortunately the story eluded me but the costumes and singing were lovely.
There have also been a number of themed shows eg Wild West where the company gets dressed up and runs around singing and chasing each other. Sort of like a French comedy. The girls are often wearing Las Vegas headdresses and frilly skirts and there are a bunch of tumblers/ gymnasts who do incredible athletic feats that make your eyes water Always, there is a beautiful singer headlining the act. Having a different 45 minute musical every night is fantastic. Michael Jackson tonight. I wonder if Bubbles will be there?
Love sandra and peter xx
