Friday

After breakfast on the balcony, our first task was to find Bob some new sandals. His current pair broke, not surprising since they had been glued together after our last trip. The old ones ended up in the garbage after he found a pair of flip flops in his price range!

Back to the hotel balcony, Bob was reading his book in the hammock and I was looking for critters in the trees. I spotted a black spiny-tailed iguana (had to look up this one). He started on a low branch, then went straight up to the top of the tree. Their maximum length is 39 inches, although this one was a bit smaller, and their maximum speed is 25 mph. A kids' drum band was practicing in the park at the time. I think the iguana enjoyed the music.

Then the Jays came. We put some bread crumbs on the railing behind Bob's hammock and they took it. I then held out my hand with some food and they took that too. I could even touch them. So tame! They hung out on the railing for quite a while, even picked up some crumbs on the floor underneath the hammock. When the bread crumbs were gone, they sat in a close tree and squawked very loudly at us. Probably mad!

Next came the monkeys. They were jumping around in the trees by the railing. Then one hung down from the roof, sat on the railing, actually jumped in a lounge chair, and over to a table to steal a piece of bread I was using to feed the birds. He grabbed it quickly, then scooted out. Glad he didn't steal my camera or tablet. Also saw another iguana, this one a little smaller. This place is amazing!

Later in the afternoon we walked further north on the beach than we did yesterday. The sand is so soft on the feet. Looked for shells along the way. On the way back to the hotel we stopped for dinner supplies at the market. No monkeys stole our food as we ate by the outdoor ledge.

Animals
Looks like you found a great spot for watching the animals! I can picture how excited you were about getting so close to the birds and monkeys. Watch out for those monkeys - they might try to steal from you!
