Have you ever seen lines so straight....it looks like a math problem
I think living in China, could at times, be food for the soul....or maybe just fuel for the ego. After not one, but two separate classes today was I almost knocked over by a heard of fourth and fifth graders. And this has happened before. The first time, I almost fainted the first time I saw 50 ten-year olds racing at me as if I was in Spain during the bull run and I had been wearing red. But then I saw books and pens and thought, "oh! they must have forgotten their english names that I gave me." Well, the didn't want their english name, they wanted, more like the ravenously craved my signature (note: i would not be a good celebrity). So I spent the next 15 minutes autographing about 55 english textbooks....every celebrity's dream!

And if that wasn't enough...if you were every feeling really low, sign yourself up for "english corner at one of your local high schools. I thought I was just helping out a fellow foreign teacher when I said that I would come to his school's english corner, because he sounded like it would be just a few chinese-english teachers and us shotting the

shit about such topics as Yao Ming, the Houston Rocks, and how well I like chinese food......but ooh no. Instead of just 20 or so teachers, there were, oh, around 300+ students gathered in the schools gym waiting for a chance to talk to one of the 6 foreign teachers. As quickly as we stepped in the gynasiumn's doors, the students ripped out their camera phones and started snapping us at every angle. I don't believe, yes, in fact I am quite certian, that never before has my every move been documented such as this moment (maybe my first steps.....but I am a second child, so only probably one or two steps made it onto the camera reel! loveumom) It was crazy...i didn't know whether to pick my nose to prevent a picture with boggers or to wait and suffer a picture of me with "bats in the cave" A classic game of "would you rather" Would you rather have every move be photographed or never be noticed at all.....

Next the chinese-english teacher who brought us to premerie of the "Foreign Teachers: Survivor" told us to spread out and go talk to a group of say 50 or

so students.....So I wandered to another part of the gym and there followed, like the top dogs in obedient school, a group of eager, question filled, all shorter than me, chinese students......I literally spent the next hour, spinning around in circles, answering questions, possing for pictures, wiping my face from the sweat, possing for more pictures, answering more questions, attempting to sing, michael jackson's "heal the world" , shaking hands, taking group pictures, being videotapped, saying goodbye to each student in my circle, and feeling my ego inflate inside of me.

In all it was pretty amazing......I felt really good......but then I came back home and had to wash my dishes in the shower with me....no sink...no dishwashwer....no maid.....and cinderalla's magically night ended at the stroke of 12.
