Friday, Saturday and Sunday were spent in Whitehorse .... known as the Gateway to the Yukon. As capital of the Yukon, it was the largest city we have been in during this trip. The population here is almost 27,000. We left Watson Lake early on Friday morning for a fairly easy drive. Other than being very windy, the roads were good and little or no construction delays. These will most likely be the best roads we will be on for a few days. We made a few stops along the way, one for gas and a small wildlife exhibit, and another short stop as we crossed the Continental Divide again. We also crossed back and forth from the Yukon to British Columbia a total of seven times.

We are camped at Pioneer RV Park ... a very tight place that really packs in the tour groups. There is absolutely no room between these motorhomes. These parks, like many older ones we have found in Florida were not made for the bigger rigs of today.

On Saturday morning we had a scheduled tour of the city of Whitehorse. It was unusual for Jim to board a bus and sit as a passenger! The tour was interesting and also included a stop at an old paddlewheel called the SS Klondike. As evening entertainment we went as a group to an old vaudeville Follies Show.

Sunday was rather quiet for us .... kind of nice to not be getting up and moving the motorhome. We checked out a couple of golf courses, but instead ended up checking out Miles Canyon to walk the suspension bridge and hike around the Yukon River. One more stop for a few groceries, and we are ready to move on in the morning.

Tomorrow we travel to Destruction Bay. The name alone has me a bit concerned .... cause they told us to plan to use our generator at the campground due to very limited amenities. With that, I will most likely not post for the next day or so. On Tuesday we cross the border and stay in Tok, Alaska. (Back in the USA!)
