Morning discovery
The Dollinger's Inn is a sweet little hotel, very homey, though they do hold a strong belief in disposable tableware. Styrofoam plates, cups, bowls... anything that doesn't need to be washed. We had a breakfast of French Toast sticks, sausages (more like kebabs), bagels, cheese, the usual I guess. Except the kebabs. They'd go better on Yom Ha'atzmaut than breakfast.

Anyway, the kids explored a bit outside while we got our baggage organized, and after seeing the frogs they found we all loaded up and went on our way. The rain started almost immediately and got progressively worse as the day wore on. So, we started out shopping at an outlet in Waterloo, and turned it into a day long shopping spree. My credit card hurts...

Actually it wasn't that bad. We got raincoats we'll need anyway (in fact, we used them right away), and some clothes. We cancelled our plans to walk around Watkins Glen and our visit to the Cornell glass museum because of the rain and drove directly to Syracuse. We got into Slocum Heights and saw where I grew up, but it was all but abandoned. Nobody there at all, the odd vehicle parked in

places and that's it. Some of the stairs were blocked with tape and in others there was a strong smell of paint, so we guess that the whole dorm facility is undergoing some renovation before the coming school year. Still, no workers left their tools anywhere.

We did some shopping and checked in to our hotel. The hotel is adequate, not nearly as nice as our previous hotels, but we'll persevere. They do have a pool, which enabled Gilat and I to organize ourselves while the kids burnt off excess energy.

Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy too but it's supposed to get better after that. I'll tell you all about it in my next entry.

Off to shower & blessed sleep...
