The day started like yesterday, off to a winery to taste some more local wines and then onto another and finally we made it to a brewery which was the best. We ordered our lunch and sampled three different brews each - it was raining outside but we didn’t care.
A young woman visiting the brewery was also celebrating her birthday so we took a picture of them together just for the fun of it and then we all sang Happy Birthday.
Our guide presented Jerry with a 4 pack of the Reserve beer as a present which I thought was so sweet.
We enjoyed our tour through the town of Napier which is very Art Deco and fun to look at although they do have a sad story which was an earthquake that devastated their town in February, 1931. It actually changed the landscape and gave them more land if you can imagine as the two plates in the ocean moved the earth upwards. It is interesting to see pictures of how it used to be versus present day.
Back to the ship by three for a quick nap and then shower for cocktails at five.
Mission Winery
Blessed grapes! I invited two couples that have become our friends to enjoy cocktails with us and then have dinner in one of the specialty restaurants. A special cake was presented to Jerry and I would say that he had a very nice birthday.
Due to some high winds the entertainment was postponed until tomorrow night so we are fastening our seat belts for a bumpy ride ahead.
Happy Birthday shout out to Gene! Hope you have a great day too!
