Jack and Roobie, enjoying the sunshine
Familiar Tones 24/04/2015

Firstly may I thank our readers and the Travel blog administrators for the fantastic words of encouragement, that we have received on our 800th Blog, all of them are special and appreciated, one that tickled me was from a fellow blogger who said there have been times when she was so tired that she fell asleep over the keyboard and wondered why she was bothering to punish herself, and wasn’t even sure if anyone was actually reading the material that she was writing but it only took a couple of positive messages on their blog site to realise that people actually where reading it and it spurred you on to keep going.

Well “JD” we sometimes feel the same and thank you for your detailed “as ever” messages of support and its people like you who keep us going, “HS” still waiting for that meaningful message, where is it?

I had medical thingy on Friday and as my appointment was North of Perth I needed to leave work early it was important for me to attend and as luck would have it Caroline works in North Perth, so the plan was for me

Roobie's camp spot
to pop home, pick Roobie up, she was packed and ready to go, and for me to drop her off in the car park where Caroline works, so that I could attend my appointment without having to worry about finding parking with a double bay as parking spaces are at a premium.

I met Caroline outside, who directed me where we could leave Roobie for a couple of hours, we unhitched, and I shot off to my appointment whilst Caroline’s colleagues wanted a guided tour of Roobie, our amazing camper trailer.

I got back to Caroline at about 4.00pm she was ready and waiting for me in the carpark next to Roobie, we hitched up, did a light check and headed North out of town.

Once we got to Bullsbrook, the country side opened out and the city could only be seen in our rear view mirror, we settled in to the drive with Caroline navigating on the iPad we were heading towards Regans Ford.

In the middle of the afternoon I had received a phone call from one of our friends Trev, who said to me that he had phoned our friend Andy who had

Came from the right, no turning left
told him that we were getting away early as everyone else was leaving on Saturday from the IGA In Bullsbrook, to us our weekends start on a Friday, not a Saturday, Trev said he and his partner Peta, were also leaving early and asked if I heard of a place called Regans Ford as there was a great little free camp, (just by the Road House).

Trev said it would be good if we met up and travelled the rest of the way in the morning so the plan was forged and we agreed to meet at Regans Ford at no definitive time, just when we both rocked up, he said that was great and that was that.

I asked Caroline if she knew where Regans ford was and she said “yes”, as she had seen it in Camps on her iPad, so that was the direction we were heading.

We arrived early evening and quickly set Roobie up which doesn’t really take us long at all, we had a curry pre prepared and all it needed was heated up, so we got on with that and relaxed for our evening meal, we are still shaking down

Drummonds reserve
Roobie’s systems and thought this weekend would be quite cold, so were happy about this as we would be running the diesel heater to keep us warm, but tonight we were using the DVD player for the first time.

The night outside was jet black and the stars were so bright, we were the only ones here so we settled down to watch a film, which had been running for about 40 minutes when we heard a horn toot and we guessed it was Trevor and Peta.

We went out and greeted them and they said they were going to have a scout around to check the place out, even though it was dark.

Back inside we got on with the film and ten minutes later there was a tap on the door, we invited our friends inside and they had a puzzled look on their faces, they asked us if we has “seen the signs” to which we said “no we hadn’t”, apparently the signs said, “Absolutely no camping and registration numbers would be taken and a $250.00 fine would be mailed out.” They were obviously not that clear as we did not see any signs

On the way to meet the others at the Badgingarra road house
on the way in and there really was not anything clear around the camp site to say no camping, but it was dark so signage would not be that noticeable.

To be fair it did say in Camps that the site was day use only, but we have heard that people have spent the night here, Peta said she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight in fear of having a knock on the door, from a Shire Ranger, and after detailed discussions we decided to pull up stumps and move on to another free camp about a 40 minute drive up the road, called Drummonds Reserve, which Trev said he had seen on his Wiki Camps app.

It only took us ten minutes to ready Roobie for travel, we hit the bitumen again and about 45 minutes later we were pulling up at Drummonds Reserve, the journey had been in the dark and we did have to take it steady as there are always Kangaroo’s around at night and they do not have much road sense.

Again we set Roobie up, when we were done, we wandered over to Trev and Peta’s new caravan for a nose

Lovely big free camp site
about, of course we were invited in and soon we had drinks in our hands and we didn’t leave until 11.30.

We fell into bed exhausted, well fell up into bed as we do have to step up to get in, we were warm and cosy and sleep was easy.

Still trying to come up with something deep and meaningful - not really up for it after three days of ultrasounding sheep and having my hand stuck up the nether regions of each and every one of them!!

Regans ford
Hi. Envious of your camping adventures. We hope to get out camping pretty soon. Our trailer in getting some items added and repaired. We picked in up in late October last year and haven't had a chance to use it. The dealers maintenance/sales building had just burned down and not everything was able to be put in the trailer. AND it was a cold and windy day. But more importantly, we have been to Regans Ford. Not free camping, but a lovely little caravan park there. Just an overnight stay. I love it when I find places you are visiting (or even referencing) that we have been to. Take Care.
