At last, the Great Ocean Road proper! Our drive from Adelaide down to the south coast of South Australia and east toward Melbourne was pretty amazing But nothing could prepare us for the beauty and spectacle that awaits on the Great Ocean Road from East of Port Fairy and on to the 12 Apostles. We stopped many times to park up and walked through the scrubland to viewing points perched atop crumbling cliffs but boy oh boy was it worth it!!

London Bridge, a massive chunk of rock cut away from its peninsula over the years.

The Bay of Islands, more massive lumps eroded by the passage of time.

The Grotto, The Arch then our favourite Loch Ard Gorge, a huge cut away into the limestone forming two magnificent coves joining at a white sandy beach. The colours of the rock formations and the ocean here were just awesome.

Our last stop today before we set up for the night in Apollo Bay was the 12 Apostles. Well, we only counted 10, the rest crumbled into the ocean but quite a staggering view anyway.

All chin droppingly fabulous. What a day!!

Feb 11th spent the day in and around Apollo  Bay. Weather was full mixed bag.

the final day of our Great Ocean Road Trip And another fantastic run along the coast into the outskirts of Melbourne.  Lone and Torquay particularly nice and we stopped for a wonder at both. We were joined for a coffee break on a piconic table at the end of Lone Bay but a handsome white parrot of some sort. He/she was very tame and perched up on the table waiting for any scraps. Let it be known, that when Paul is eating and Almond Danish pastry, there will be no leftovers! !
We stopped at Torquay for a walk along the beach head and saw the surfers at play and a canoe school in the estuary.

Then on through Geelong and reached the outskirts of Melbourne by mid afternoon.  We are pitched up in the overflow carpark as all site in and around here are packed because of the World Cup Cricket and a camping and caravan show! Not such a bad pitch though.  Intend to catch local bus into the city for a good look round tomorrow.

So glad we did Adelaide and the Great Ocean Road. It has been awesome  ☺
