So, I am sitting here in the lobby of a Fairfield Inn near Detroit. We have had a couple of frustrating weeks with car repairs and whatnot, watching money flow through our fingers like water. Could have been much worse, and the Lord provided for us, so we are good and mobile again. We also continued on our motorhome hunt, and tried to focus rather close to home. From all around Cincinnati, back up to Hebron Ohio, and over to Richmond, Indiana we looked. We were very interested in….I forget what it was, maybe a Georgie Boy Pursuit, in Hebron, but just couldn’t come to an agreement on price.
Here, I will tell you, that this venture began in prayer, and we have asked the Lord to make things very clear to us what He wanted us to buy, and whether or not He really wanted us to go to Yellowstone. We desire to follow His plan for us, and not follow our own desires, for we know the messes that our desires get us into! (I think that was an awkward sentence. Sorry.) Jack and I both set a specific dollar amount in our minds of what
we wanted to spend, and then we compared that. Low and behold, we were on the same page (a miracle in itself!) and like Gideon, we set a fleece before the Lord. Jack probably set a few more fleeces, but I am a “second guesser”, so I need one absolutely clear standard! So, in Hebron, we were like $2,000 off from the dealer’s offer. My whole being wanted to accept it and spend the extra. It wouldn’t kill us! I could tell Jack was thinking that too, though he may deny it! But, we said “sorry for wasting your time”, and we walked out. I admit that I did have to take a few moments…or days… to regroup and battle my disappointment and fear that I would not be able to realize my dream and that this whole plan was being buoyed up by my own desires rather than God’s will.
A week later, and here I sit in Detroit. Heading home today after a great day at Atkins RV in Flint Michigan yesterday. Here are some pics of our 2002 Winnebago Adventurer. I couldn’t be happier. Cost = less than the fleece we set. IT HAS
A BATHROOM! It has a side by side fridge/freezer and I am thrilled with the larger freezer space, given the distance from our campground to Walmart (about 85 miles they say…). Shout out to Atkins RV…. They are a family business and have the nicest, cleanest motorhomes and very reasonable price. They went above and beyond for us. Obviously, it is a used model, it has a few issues, and they are fixing those for us. Our experience at large chain retail dealers was very disappointing, units overpriced for their age and condition (IMHO). We will pick it up in 2-3 weeks, so one more trip north. So, score one for Michigan in the RV sales game, besides the fine folks at Atkins, on line searches seem to show that Michigan wins that game overall. Thanks to John, Paul, and Cathy in Flint!
We have received our offers of employment from Yellowstone. Jack has been offered a job as a plumber at the Lake Hotel, and I will be a cashier at Fishing Bridge RV park. We are to arrive in Yellowstone April 17 and will remain til October something. For the summer we will be living
at Fishing Bridge, but pre and post season will be in an employee lot somewhere!
Matthew 7:7 Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you: for everyone that asketh receiveth; and he who seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, if his son ask bread will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?
I don’t think that this means that you get everything you ask God for. We all know that is not true. I was able to spend some time with the Lord after the disappointment in Hebron. I confessed to him my disappointment, my fear, and my lack of faith. When your confession comes from the deepest part of your heart, and not only because you know that you are wrong, when you have the true deep
desire to CHANGE, to repent, to turn away from your sin, when you seek God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, He will hear you. He will give you the desires of your heart because your desire will be His, and not necessarily your own. In Him alone there will be true joy, true peace, true purpose. I thank Jesus today for being my King and for loving me as His daughter. I hope each of you can experience that overwhelming love.
