After a brief respite in the afternoon, we were booked on a river cruise for 5:30. Little did I know that the cruise was going to generate so many pictures. We met a Hippo or two. Now I can spot a Hippo in the water. Just watch for twitching ears.
When a Hippo opens its mouth it is a site to see. With the huge insisors, you can see how the teeth can rip a human apart. On a side note, there were 2 Hippos late last night in the hotel yard by the pool..
I was asleep, but did hear strange noises around 1PM. Back to the cruise. We snacked and drank on the boat while zig zagging back and forth on the Zambesi river.
We saw many other wild lifewhile cruising such as exotic birds. The sunset was additionally a bonus. The vivid colors are forever imprinted in my memory. It was a party on that boat. Serious snackin' and drinkin' and viewing. We capped off the night eating traditional food such as peanut flavored rice, and wildebeast.
This mornin I had to get up at 5AM to make it in time for the Lion walk. I was not scared but anxious to fulfill another dream.. When I arrived I did not know what to expect. The guides were plentiful and procceded to coach us as to what not to do. We had a stick to nudge the Lion if he got naughty. We started-off into the 10 acre compound and met with the 2 uncaged Lions! WE were introduced to them and promptly got aquainted with them. A 22 month brother and sister.. We were told to lean down on one knee from behind and were allowed to proceed to pet and caress the Lions. They feel fear, so we had to be sure that we did not show it. As I got familiar with the Lions, I ws told I could run my hands under there chin and then along there backs. This was sureal. The wardens were using my cameras to snap the experience. As the Lions rose up to walk I was able to grab the Lions tail and walk with the Lion. Well, when the Lion stopped with me holding the tail, it suddenly started peeing.
It was ajolt not realizing what it was doing. The Lion had no pride! Get it. Hahahaha.
