Our next for two nights was at Frecourt 550 kilometres away fro Avignon. We travelled on country roads for so 250 kilometres but that took to long. We had to continue on toll roads which cost us Euro 20, which is $28. More regrettable was the change of scenery. Country roads in France are picture postcards, beautiful. We were at a Bed & Breakfast that was in a village that ahs 86 inhabitants. Noot far away from a place to eat or even near a bigger ancient city called Langress. The walls of the city are completely intact that span the city fro 3.5 kilometres, with towers and belfries etc. dates from Gallo-Roman times. The rock has been fortified since the third century A.D. The last Military development was in the 19th century. The cathedral inside the old city was built between 1150-1196. Various buildings date back to the 13th century. as the cloister next door. T Gallo Roman gate dates to the first century before Christ. Who would have walked through this. If only those walls could talk. We walked along the walls of the city than ready for a beer and dinner. It was 5 o'clock, no eating places are not open until 7 P.M. To tired we went to the super market bought some ham and cheese rolls to have in our room. When telling our host he sat us at the breakfast table made a pot of coffee, came with a bowl of soup and put all sorts of French cheeses on the table. They were unbelievable people who treat there guests as friends. We also went to the origin of the river Maas, or Meuse as the French say. That river goes al the way to the Netherlands and flows into the North Sea When you look at this little bubbling spring which runs through the fields with cows and turns into this massive waterway. It is a river formed by a spring and rain. It is a water supply for the Netherlands.

Mooi hoor! En Alfons nog hartelijk gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag! 81? En Liz natuurlijk ook met Alfons. Was je verjaardagsmaaltijd lekker? Nog veel plezier en een goede reis verder,we volgen jullie. Groete Peter en Ria
