I had both a lazy and a productive day! Good tourist day. (By the way no promises for London pics anytime soon because I only get back to the hostel around 11pm at the earliest each night so… yes.)

Since I got back to my hostel past midnight last night, I was a little slow to get going today. I was starving and for some reason decided Borough Market would be a good idea at 10am... that's not exactly lunch time lol. So I kind of wandered around the London Bridge area and decided I'd have a market morning. I went up to Camden and spent an hour or so just wandering the stalls. I went back to Borough for lunch though - a duck confit sandwhich that just fell apart in your mouth. Perfect.

Again I wandered a bit more before heading to Harrods. Legit going to try a different pastry or snack every day I'm here haha. Lofty goals. Today was a three chocolate chip brownie...melt in your mouth goodness.

So, basically my morning was lazy and food based haha.

I went to see the matinee of "Shakespeare in Love" - I've lost count of how many shows I've seen at the Noel Coward - cute theatre with cheap seats on the side. Turns out it wasn't sold out so all of us in the cheapies moved to the centre like 2 min before the play started lol. When I was in my actual cheap seat though I met a guy from Chicago. He told me he was from London... I gave him a bit of a look with his American accent. "My parents are British - I was born here and we moved to Chicago when I was 6 weeks old." Yes love, not quite sure that constitutes you being a Londoner haha, but hey. He was a nice enough guy - we chatted for about 20min. You know, with all these lovely random convos I always have, it would be nice if one was with a male under the age of 35. Just sayin'.

Anyway, the play. It was pretty good. Not my fav I've seen by any means but it was funny. I'd never seen the movie but from what I heard other people jabbering about it compared well.

I walked around Leicester Square and just lazed about really after that. I was going to see Skylight (Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan!) at 7:30pm so I didn't want to go too far. One thing that's hilarious about standing around here is that if you stop moving it is practically guaranteed someone will ask you directions. And people can ask some weird things - like they won't ask a street name or building name - it's often "where is the theatre that plays _____?" Right, sorry, I'm good but I'm not that good haha.

But my absolute fav is when other Brits ask you where something is and you can see the hope die in their eyes when you go to reply and you have a North American accent because they are almost certain in that moment you will not be able to help them haha.

Anyway, Skylight! What a great play - it was much funnier than I expected. I had no idea what the story was since I'd really just booked because of the cast but it ended up being a great story with some drama of course, but lots of genuinely great laughs.

Also, here's a little hint for anyone going to the theatre - don't bring nuts as your snack (oh the noise) and don't effing text during the play. The two girls beside me were quite something. But to balance that out I think it's wonderful that people are so apologetic when they have to go by you and you have to stand to let them pass. And it's like genuine "sorry"s not just the in passing kind.

Journey back to the hostel was oddly freezing..?? I have forgotten how chilly the nights are even when you bake on the Tube during the day. That’s ok, I look like the silly tourist in sandals and a tshirt, hugging myself to stay warm haha.

And now I’m back at my hostel… girl in my room is ripping up newspapers and spreading them around her bed. Like hanging the pieces off the rails. I… don’t even want to know..?
