Day 22 - August 26, 2006

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT!!

Today we went to breakfast to celebrate Robert’s birthday at The Outpost. Our waitress was Hungarian. It’s interesting to hear all these different accents. Robert had the French toast and also the mushroom and swiss omelette, with a side of bacon. Even he couldn’t finish all that food. We enjoyed our breakfast, but the French toast was nowhere as good as what we had at The Country Way in Fremont, CA.

We headed back to Yellowstone. It was overcast most of the day, raining some of the day. (First day of rain of our entire trip, aside from some sprinkles in the Canyonlands at the Needles. Refer to lightning strike picture.) Robert has turned out to be quite the quipster this trip. He has been singing and mimicking to entertain us. When I told Scott to make sure that he took his anti-oxidant to help avoid accidents, Robert quipped “Good luck with that!”

There is a Ho Hum Motel here in town. Haven’t met anyone who is staying there, though. Also there is a Three Bear Restaurant and Bear Tooth Barbecue. We saw a license plate from Alaska today.

This trip has brought out both the best and the worst aspects of our personalities and our interactions with each other. This must be what it is like on one of those reality shows, where everyone is confined to a house. (This would be an interesting reality show; making a group of people drive around in a RV visiting national parks. I'm sure someone has already thought of this, but couldn't find enough crazy people to agree to do it.)
