Last night I observed a new sport, flogging a spinning metal top with a long camel strap. Looked quite arduous.
Today's ride was not so bad. Felt wrecked yesterday so wasn't looking forward to it. As it turned out, most felt the same. First half country roads and street markets. Navigating the stalls, scooters, buses, trucks was EXCITING. I now have spiders eyes, 4 sets ea. direction of the compass. The weather wasn't to bad at outset. Huaying was set under mountains which provided a dramatic back drop.
Xian is enormous, must be 10+ million people. Looks interesting to explore. The old town is surrounded by an enormous wall, about 30 km. some others intend to ride it tomorrow. I'll go to the terracotta warriors and maybe the Muslim quarter.
Came down with a bug in the afternoon, both ends and the shakes. Not good, so no warriors just taking it easy tomorrow. Sunday is a big climbing day subject to being on top of bug.
One rider had a nasty accident, a pedestrian walked out in front of him, James on the brakes and went over the handlebars, breaking his collarbone, and fracturing his pelvis. Tour over. Makes everyone refocus on the ever present dangers!
