NOMADS UNITE



It really feels like the start of summer. The weather is warm and things are changing. Jane and I have been living a somewhat nomadic lifestyle for the last three years. Traveling and working is several different locations. Now that we are living on a yacht we can really feel the freedom of our gypsy lifestyle. One of our good friends has decided to adopt a similar traveler existence. I helped Bill go and pick up his new RV yesterday. He is in the process of downsizing, selling off his excess possessions and moving out of his apartment. He will be moving "aboard" full time very soon. His will be a land-based travel lifestyle, but he plans to follow the good weather and migrate with the seasons. For now he has parked his new home in eastern North Carolina so he can see what is happening at "The Dig".



THE DIG

The First Colony Foundation has returned to Bal Gra for another excavation on our property. They are continuing their efforts to determine what happened to the First English settlers in the New World, the so-called "Lost Colony" of Sir Walter Raleigh who disappeared from Roanoke Island in the late 1500's. After the successful archeological investigation on the same site in 2012 they asked permission to come back for a more extensive dig this year. The English pottery and artifacts they found have led to the hypothesis that this is where they came after leaving Roanoke Island. Living amongst the Indians who had befriended them they seemed to have stayed in this location for quite awhile. I have learned all about English pottery from North Devonshire and other unique artifacts they have unearthed on our site. They still seek the definitive item which will erase all doubt, but just from the variety and amount of items found it is obvious that there was alot of activity going on back in the proper time period.

Sure am pleased to see Bill apparently found the RV of his dreams. I'll bet he loves leaving it in Bal Gra for the moment in time. Know where next? The digs look serious. Won't it be exciting if they prove the Lost Colony really settled down in Bal Gra area. Is there any way, becides checking in with you, that I can follow the Dig. Any internet site or ??? Jane, I have spent the last 2 days building a covered play pen (BIG) for Kathys cousin, ashlee's Road Island Red chickens in her new Preppers Site in Swanannoa. Tomorrow I head to a new found buddies Scuba Shop here in Asheville to aquire new gear for my St. Thomas Buisness trip departing this Sunday. (You KNOW I will sneak in a dive or three now that my ear has healed after 4 years of sealing up the hole in the drum. Hope to be able to visit with you guys again soon. FROG
