With a 4.30am arrival in a new area of Peru and once again feeling delirious from exhaustion, it was certainly an unnerving situation. Having managed to book a hostel earlier that which would accept us at the unearthly hour, we finally arrived at the front door after battling with the taxi driver to get us there. However, the drama wasn't over yet, as there was no sign of life. Knock, knock, knock...no answer. With thoughts of being stranded in a random city at 4am, with our all our worldly possessions in hand, Rich's blood pressure was once again maxing out. Eventually, with a heart attack narrowly avoided, the un-signposted front door finally creaked open and we were invited in and quickly ushered to our less than glamorous dorms. We squeezed in as much sleep as we could before we were awoken by the other guests in the dorm and the sweltering heat in the room. With no set plan for the day and not knowing anything about the town or what it has to offer, we got showered, dressed and set off for a look about town.

After a quick, underwhelming swoop of the colonial Plaza De Armas and surrounding

city centre, we headed to McDonald's to take advantage of the wifi (as it didn't work in the hostel). Little did we know we would be spending lunch, dinner and an evening McFlurry desert in the same spot planning and blogging as usual (this blogging lark is pretty time consuming).

With a 12.45am departure, never had we been so excited to board an 18 hour night bus. The anticipation and excitement of our next stop was already building fast.

After four intense and action packed weeks in Peru, it was finally time to say goodbye and say hello to Ecuador...next stop Guayaquil and the South American showpiece we've been waiting for...The Enchanted Islands of Galapagos.
