The plan today is visit the cu chi tunnels. The tunnels of Củ Chi are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels located in the Củ Chi district of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country. The Củ Chi tunnels were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War, and were the Viet Cong's base of operations for the Tết Offensive in 1968.

The tunnels were used by Viet Cong soldiers as hiding spots during the war as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous North Vietnamese fighters. The tunnel systems were of great importance to the Viet Cong in their resistance to American forces, and helped to counter the growing American military effort.

History over with now. The journey was an hour and half away. We arrived it was.so busy with tourists. We had paid for a guide and it was definately worth it as we gained more informatio. We were shown examples of.booby trips that were used to kill such as layers of.grass.which.actually was.like a seesaw therefore when stood on the person falls through and are impaled by bamboo sticks....ouch.

They also had tunnels that were used at the time they were absolutly tiny but we all jumped in for photo opportunitys.

They also had a shooting range which added to the experience as you walked around where.people use to fear for.their lives and here gun.shots. Some of the group had a go at shooting.

We then were able to go through the underground tunnels which 60 metres. The tunnels were dark, tiny and hot but i managed to go all the way through, Imagining them all running through fearing for their lives not knowing if family members had made it.

After the tour we finished by having.some funny tasting tea which the vietenimise use to drink.

We were then dropped off at the war museum to see photos from war i.thought it was strange having.pictures but the photos were posed for so an.American soldier would be about to.torture a person and.wud.be told to hold and a picture would be taken. Just cant believe people are so cruel but war is all around the world.

I.also learnt about the long impact the war had.on.families. A chemical called agent orange was used which devasted the countryside and deformed the people for generations in unimagable ways.

We then had to get ready for our first night sleeper train to nha trang. We all didnt no what to expect but sure we would be ok together.
