Being a tourist in my own country was one of the resolution I have made for 2014. I think many people would be wondering why, and some might even think that I am either having too much free time or I have nothing better to do with my life. Actually, it is neither.
On my last trip to Philippines, after getting to know some very interesting international friends, I was asked to introduce Singapore and to recommend places for them to explore. It was then that I realised that I do not really know my beloved Singapore very well. Other than the fact that I know how to get my way around Singapore, I know very little about the interesting and fun places to explore.
It was then I realised how workaholic I had been. Even though, I know all the different places to find good local food. But, I was not able to recommend my backpackers friends a decent way to have fun in Singapore, and it felt really sad. Is Singapore really such an expensive place?
Hence, my resolutions for 2014 - getting to know Singapore, and sharing it with everyone about the things you can do while on a budget or to explore Singapore luxuriousle.
However, I am kinda on a tight budget, due to the many travelling plans coming along, I will be also be using information or stories from fellow bloggers, and I would like sharing their links with you.
There are many nice local bloggers that you may start with
TheSmartLocal.com,
ieatishootipost,
ladyironchef and
Seth Lui.
You might realised from the links, that most of them are food bloggers. For those who have Singaporeans friends, or been to Singapore, you would come to realised that Singaporeans are always eating. This explains the wide variety of food we have in Singapore - Chinese, Malay, Indian, Italian, French, Thai, Japanese, Western, etc. We are a real food hub.
Hence, for 2014, I would like to introduce some of the festivals and events that are being held in Singapore. Please do take note that this is not a comprehensive guide of Singapore, but some interesting information that may help you plan your stay while travelling in Singapore, and some pictures for your reading pleasure.
There are also some interesting places, such as
Gardens by the Bay,
ArtScience Museum,
Maritime Museum,
S.E.A Aquarium etc. Some interesting events that will be happening in Singapore, such as iLight etc. Most importantly, I would like to introduce some must-try food in Singapore, which you may not be able to get it anywhere else in the world, such as crab feast and durian. Which some of you might have tried before in some other countries, but I can assure you that it does not taste the same as when you eat it in Singapore.
Meanwhile, for those who are already here - Happie Exploring Singapore ^_^
