Although we hadn’t come here to rock climb we found ourselves rock scrambling anyway.

As you walk along the path to the beach there is a steep path leading up to a lagoon, this intrigued me wondering how a lagoon could be up there.

Bright and early one morning, before it got too hot, we set off in search of the lagoon. The path was a steep rock scramble but there was a thick rope to guide you and help you get up if need be. It proved to be not too difficult and after about 15 minutes of climbing we were at the top. The path branched of in two directions, we took the right turn and soon found ourselves at the view point. A place you could look out see the narrow strip with a beach on either side and then the towering limestone karsts cutting the area off from the rest of the mainland making you realize why this place can only be reached by boat.

From here we re traced our steps and took the second branch of the path. This would between two karsts on a rocky path, the vegetation was huge making the place seem surreal. For a while there was no one else around and I began to feel as though I’d been dropped into a scene from the film Jurassic Park.

The path came to a sudden drop and from there we could see the lagoon, it was a long way down. Again ropes had been fixed to the rocks so the climb down wasn’t too difficult and certainly worth the effort, it was beautiful down there, the lagoon was pale blue and completely encircled by steep lime karsts. Amazing!!

Now all we had to do was to climb back up and then back down the other side.

We arrived back at our bungalow feeling very grubby but fulfilled. The rest of the day was spent taking a well earned rest on the beach

Up hill
Don't you find that most of the wonderful things we want to look at is at the top of some hill?

from the top of the hill
Yes you're right but if we didn't have to work so hard to get to these places the rewards and satisfaction wouldn't be as good
