I have made a plan with my dear friend Jacquie to go up to her cabin and ski. The weather has cooperated. I left Foam Lake with -14 and the promise of even softer temperatures. In Saskatoon, I immersed myself in the world of school, meeting with Laurie and Chris to discuss all that I was missing. We are a team that laughs and finishes each others sentences. There is nothing during this year that has filled that niche. It was a welcome visit that reset a large part of how I think of myself. The next day, we were off to the lake. The sky was an intense blue and the air felt soft. Jacquie and I start talking and hours later we come to ourselves to realize that we have barely come up for air. We philosophize, analyze, dream, imagine and argue about almost everything, while the hours pass. We woke to go skiing. We had done a reconnaissance mission the day before and found the trail head, so we had breakfast and were on our way. This part of the world had a very wet heavy snow dump in late November that bent many of the trees in low arches of the roads and paths, making a fairy tale world of thick soft snow with covered arching lanes that go on forever. The track is groomed here by a nearby winter lodge. Skiing was a dream, just enough hills to fly down to give us our breath back from short rises. The trail is 5km, just right for weekend warriors that shouldn't strain too hard. The path was stunningly gorgeous. We have found the ideal spot. We returned to the cabin tired and exhilarated to cuddle up with books, nap and watch the snow begin to fall. I can no longer see the other side of the lake. Evening brought a walk, visit with the neighbour, and a good meal with wine. The next day started the same with breakfast and a ski, but ended with an après ski drink and lunch. The restaurants at Christopher lake and Emma have excellent food. We have started talking about how to retire up here, to a life like this. It's was a perfect weekend, it would be a perfect way to live.

Goodnight and Sweet Dreams
